Generally speaking, I'd say disease comes from losing touch with the sources of our joy. In Spinoza’s philosophy, joy (laetitia) is defined as the 'passage from a lesser to a greater perfection' or an increase in one’s power to act and exist. Nothing gets the blood flowing like the arousal we get from doing the things we feel inclined to do.
